The first adventure I read by the inimitable Derrick Ferguson was Dillion and the Judas Chalice. I thoroughly enjoyed it—couldn’t put it down. Having become well acquainted with the “Dillion” series, I expected as much from The Adventures of Fortune McCall. I’m happy to say I wasn’t disappointed…
“Men shuffled to their feet as knives and machetes, their edges glittering in the dim light, were produced. The entrance was slammed shut and secured with a thick wooden bar. Women sensuously licked their painted lips at the prospect of watching murder being done…” —Derrick Ferguson, The Adventures of Fortune McCall.
And so it begins. The reader is instantly thrust into a world of nail-biting suspense and action. This novel is a wild ride through evil geniuses, mob bosses, inept police and mad grabs for power, all played out against the surreal 1930s backdrop of Sovereign City— with the larger than life Fortune leading the way. But Fortune McCall and his sexy, butt-kicking crew are super cool, and in control.
The Adventures of Fortune McCall is pulp fiction extraordinaire, and author Derrick Ferguson is large and in charge! I give it an enthusiastic five thumbs up!
