My Flow

What’s your copesthetic?

I churn like rivers rich and muddy
past a southbound railroad
the smell of molasses,
honeysuckle and fatback
in my nostrils

Move angry and gentle
floating on a peach horizon
that wakes the day and kisses
it goodnight

Rotate with an R& B bass
Blues not far behind — the jazz and
rock n roll it spawned in my ear

Like the rich, black soil of Georgia
a sponge giving and receiving
fantastic creatures that
gyrate in your nightmares
whisper in your dreams

Love-doings hot,
funky, savored
flavors my soul
and I dare to speak
eternity to my man

I leap on the sceams of my ancestors
a drumbeat pounding in my spirit
that will not be denied
Let me strain and give birth
to those riding under my skin —
these fierce, hot beings
that yearn to awaken

What’s your flow?
What’s your essence?

Tell the story….

Sexy Sister Moon on the mic
representing for the scifi queens
drum roll now if you please…
I part my lips and muddy rivers
pour from my tongue
dip my pen to ink –
and the souls of Black folk
shape shift before I’m done
Ancestors beat a funky refrain through my soul
Miles and Coltrane blowing
the story that must be told
my mistress eyes are nothing like
the sun
but strong, honeyed wine –
pounded grapes from an African son…

So now I’ll blow
can you hear me yo?
On the seventh hour of the seventh day
in a galaxy far far away
a legend was born
a queen — full of stardust
and dreams….

a legend was born
a queen — full of stardust
and dreams
she grew to shape shift between time
and in her journey encountered
a chump who thought he could rhyme
“I’m the sire,” he squeeked
“You’re tired” she replied
“a speak of dirt on the windshield of my journey”
and with these words she departed
leaving him brokenhearted
I can’t be held down
I gotta get on my grind…

Watching President Obama’s Inarguration

Here’s my tribute to today’s mind blowing event:

Queen Moon in the house
spittin true
Today is OUR DAY
and I’m looking back
20 years we were led astray
made to feel like our hands were tied
the media chained, hobbled us
told us a pack of lies
but now our Ancestors
rise up and walk
speak of the Nile
of royalty and brilliance
that was always ours
of a Sister named Moses
running through the woods
slave catchers at her back
of demonstrations when
police dogs attacked —
of lawyers, teachers, inventors
and more…
this is when and where we Enter
and I’m standing with Zora, Octavia
James and Richard at my back
carrying our load of dreams in my sack
come on SciFi SISTERS AND BROTHERS
let’s shake things up!
Let’s make it real!
Compared to what?
Compared to us
and what we feel!

“Our voice is powerful!
Our voice is change!
Our voice cannot be silenced!
We are voice of the people
AND – WE – WILL- BE – HEARD!”
